This is the place where you can personalize your profile!
But, how?
By moving, adding and personalizing widgets.
You can drag and drop to rearrange.
You can edit widgets to customize them.
The left side has widgets you can add!
Some widgets you can only access when you get a premium membership.
Some widgets have options that are only available when you get a premium membership.
We've split the page into zones!
Certain widgets can only be added to certain zones.
"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!
Now go forth and astound us all with your devious profiles!
In honor of Ada Lovelace (and for Women in Tech day) I made a tile from a photo of a reproduction of Babbage's analytical engine (the machine that Ada Lovelace became the first programer on).
Here's my take on Brushes. Brushes are tools. The patent for the hammer does not - indeed cannot - restrict what you can create with the hammer.
My brushes themselves are released under a creative commons license. That means if you want to make new brushes out of them (say, you want to convert them to work in a different program) that use is covered by the creative commons license.
If you want to USE the brushes, I don't believe I have either a moral or legal right to restrict that use. That which is made using them is the intellectual property of the creator of the work, just like the person who makes paint brushes in meatspace can't say that you have to tell everyone that you used their brand.
I would love to encourage everyone to release things into the creative commons, but I cannot make that a condition for using the brushes. I really would love to see what people do with the brushes I create, but again, I cannot make that into a condition of use.
Thanks for the and for the note. Loved the background you did with my brushes... And BTW, I agree with your opinion on brushes you put in your journal. They are tools, and I make them to share and to be used, however the artist choses to use them. I like to see what's done with them, but that's just a personal request because I like it, not a requirement. Very well said. Merry Christmas!
